Competition Opportunities

At The Dance Academy of Stuart, we believe in fostering every dancer’s growth through performance opportunities that match their goals and passion. As a performance-based studio first, we value stage experience, artistic expression, and community involvement above all. While competition is available to those who seek it, it is never expected or required. For dancers interested in additional challenges and stage time, we offer two distinct competition paths, each designed to support and inspire dancers in different ways.

Competition Team

No Audition Required

Our Competition Team is a great entry point for dancers interested in the excitement and camaraderie of the competition experience.

Open to all dancers—no audition necessary
Dancers participate in 3 to 4 competitions throughout the season
Focus on group routines in various styles such as jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and tap
Great for dancers who want to grow their stage presence and performance skills in a supportive environment
Builds confidence, teamwork, and technical ability while maintaining a balanced schedule

This team is perfect for dancers who love to perform and want to explore the world of competitive dance in a nurturing and enthusiastic setting.

Universal Ballet Competition

Audition or Approval Only

Universal Ballet Competition (UBC) is a premier ballet competition and convention held over a weekend in February, featuring both competition opportunities and master classes with world-renowned instructors and adjudicators. It’s an inspiring event for dancers seeking to refine their classical technique and gain valuable experience in a pre-professional setting.

Dancers train to learn and perform a classical ballet variation, tailored to their level and strengths
They attend a regional UBC event, which includes both competition and workshops
The focus is on technical precision, artistry, and individual performance growth
Ideal for dancers with a strong interest in classical ballet or those considering future pre-professional or collegiate programs

Participation on the UBC Team is both a personal and artistic journey. It offers dancers a unique opportunity to experience the rigor and beauty of ballet performance at a nationally recognized level—within a supportive and encouraging studio community.

Competition Tean

Team Director - Kim Lorenzatto

The DAS Competition Team provides an additional training tool for our dancers. As a member of this team, dancers have the opportunity to participate in competitions, attend conventions as well as guest teacher workshops. The team is open and accepts all dancers as long as they are able to make the commitment, make minimum requirements, and be a team player.
